Liberia faces grave mining invasion-Mines and Energy Minister

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Mines and Energy Minister Gesler Murry says Liberia is currently facing serious mining invasion hampering the Country’s Economy and livelihood of citizens.

Minister Murry said: “Government’s recent decision to ban the use of dredges in mining minerals was intended to halt these invasions by unauthorized individuals.”

Speaking with ELBC Thursday, October 31, 2019, Minister Murry said people who have been using dredges to mine minerals in the Country were doing so without authorization.

The Mines and Energy Minister said besides the economic situation, the use of dredges is affecting Liberian waters and end users of these waters around the Country, including the turbines at the hydro.
