President Weah Arrives In Niger For ECOWAS Summit

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has arrived in the Nigerien Capital of Niamey, for an Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

President Weah, who departed the Country Friday, November 8, 2019, joined other leaders of the Regional bloc for the extraordinary summit expected to specifically focus on the political situation in Guinea Bissau.

ECOWAS leaders are Niamey to find solution to the political situation in Guinea-Bissau where President José Mário Vaz, in disagreement with the government led by Aristides Gomes, dismissed the latter on 28 October by a decree, before appointing Faustino Fudut Imbali as the Prime Minister.

From Niamey, President Weah will fly to Paris, France, to join world leaders for the Paris Peace Forum.

The Paris Peace Forum seeks collective action, multilateralism and the good stewardship in addressing common challenges and maintaining world peace.

President Weah is also expected to participate in another global peace forum in Dubai.
