ADB to launch US 87Million Phase -2 of MRU Road

MONROVIA, LIBERIA- The African Development Bank (ADB) is launching Phase Two of the Mano River Union Road Transport Programme.

According to a release, the Project cost estimated at over u$ 87Million is expected to improve roads and facilitate transport between Liberia and Cote d’Ivoire.

The ADB will cover about 48 per cent of the total project cost, while the European Union, European Development Bank and the Government of Liberia will jointly support the rest of the financing.

The objective of the launching is for the ADB and the Liberian Government to discuss and clarify relevant issues related to the timely fulfillment of the grant and loan conditions, commencement and implementation of the project.

The project which is expected to run from November 2019 to June 2023, will further provide for the asphalting of 67.1km of road between Fish Town and Kelipo, Sanniquellie and Loguatuo, boost economic recovery and increase job prospects among others, and will be executed by the Ministry of Public Works.
