MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Stakeholders in the Oil Palm Sector of West Africa have adopted a resolution with a commitment to improve and foster community rights in the Region.

They also made several recommendations to their respective Governments and the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil (PSPO).

A delegate from Sierra Leone, Christiana Ellie, said:” The participants have agreed to support community driven smallholder oil palm development, benefit sharing and promote respect for community rights.”

Madam Ellie said the delegates also recommended to government and the Roundtable for Sustainable Oil Palm to seriously consider community rights in the management and governance of the Country’s natural resources.

She read the resolution recently at the end of a two-day Regional Dialogue on the Development of the Oil Palm Sector of West Africa, organized by the Sustainable development Institute with funding from RSPO.
