Liberia’s First Lady urges Liberians, foreign residents to get tested

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s First Lady Clar Marie Weah is urging Liberians and foreign residents to get tested and know their HIV/AIDS status.

Madam Weah said:” Knowing your status is a crucial first step in combating HIV AIDS.”

She said this would not only enable the individual to make sound life choices, but it would also enable Liberia move towards achieving the 90-90-90 target by 2020.

The 90-90-90 target would guarantee that by 2020, 90% of people living with HIV will know their status, 90% diagnosed with the infection will receive sustained antiretroviral therapy, and 90% receiving antiretroviral therapy will have viral suppression.

Speaking to reporters ahead of World AIDS Day recently, the Liberian First Lady also calling for concerted efforts in eliminating HIV/AIDS from Liberia.

Commenting on this year’s World AIDS Day National theme, Madam Weah called on Government, Civil Society, women and youth groups to work together in ending HIV /AIDS status.
