(mylbsonline/Liberia)-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has urged owners of rubber farms at the Mount Coffee Hydro Plant outside Monrovia to peacefully negotiate with the Government.

Speaking Monday when she appeared on her monthly program, “Conversation with the President”, President Johnson-Sirleaf said: “Proprietors of rubber farms in the area were demanding US$20m before government takes possession of the lands for the implementation of the hydro project.”

“Government will implement the hydro project to alleviate the high cost of electricity in Liberia. Government will not pay excessive amounts to individuals who deliberately encroached on public properties,” she said.

The Liberian Leader said: “Government will fell the trees for the successful implementation of the Mount Coffee Hydro Project.”

“Liberians are paying US$0.54 per kilowatt for electricity, but the amount would decrease drastically upon the completion of the hydro plant,” President Johnson-Sirleaf also added.
