LBS first in Africa to promote Chinese Culture

(mylbsonline/Liberia)- The Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) has been lauded for being the first African Broadcaster to promote Chinese culture and policies.

The commendation was made by the head of China’s International Cooperation Department of State Administration for Radio, Film and Television (SARFT), Yan Chengsheng. 

According to mylbsonline reporter in China, Mr. Yan made the statement Thursday May 16, 2013 in Beijing at the opening of a 7-week seminar on Television Broadcasting Techniques for African developing countries.

He said: “LBS is using its facilities to propagate the Chinese culture and policies in Africa. This has boosted the country’s partnership with China.”

“We will continue promoting African countries’ development in radio and television for mutual exchanges and cooperation between China and   the continent.”

“We have 1.3 billion people, comprising more than 56 ethnic majority, however, we have embarked on a new policy of reform to open up, ensuring that all voices are heard,” Yan pointed out.

“Policy has made China learnt more and would use  the lessons to help African and other Countries of the world transform trough the vital role radio and television play.”

For his part, the head of the Liberian team, Nathan Charles, said: “With the rapid development the Liberian Media is experiencing, the training would greatly strengthen and make LBS and other media outlets in the country viable”. 

Two LBS Television Broadcasters, including Mr. Charles and Presenter, Samantha Carter, are representing Liberia at the Beijing training program.

They joined twenty other African journalists in that Asian city to learn new techniques in television reporting and production and equipment handling.

The program will also provide training in Digital Television Leading End System, Data Broadcasting Application, Radio and Television Tapeless System, as well as Television Content Protection, amongst others.

The training course is organized by China Radio and Television, with support from the Chinese’s Ministry of Commerce.
