(Mylbsonline/Liberia)-The Liberian government for the first time has   extended land ownership rights to the vast majority of Liberians in four categories.

Government says the new Land Rights Policy Document now provides that land ownership rights be granted Liberians in four new categories.

President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf made the pronouncement in Monrovia Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the end of a two-day National Validation Conference on Land Rights Policy.

President Johnson-Sirleaf said: “The Land Rights Policy has now been clearly defined for the first time and land ownership rights categorized into public, private, government and customary.”

“The recognition and granting of land ownership rights to Liberians in rural communities will now create enormous potentials for economic empowerment in the country.”

The President added.The President said: “Government will ensure that the rights of all Liberians, under Land Rights Policy, are respected.”
