Tweh Farm fire leaves 5 dead one survives

By Arthur Douglas

(mylbsonline/Liberia)-A fire disaster has left a family of five dead in Tweh Farm, Bushrod Island Wednesday, May 29, 2013.

The victims, including the mother, two daughters, son-in-law, and a 7-year old grandchild were trapped in the house by an unusual blaze.

Eyewitnesses said: “We woke up to the loud cries, ‘please help save us! Please help save us!’ by the would-be victims at around 12:30am, but we could not assist, due to the thick iron bars and doors that sealed the decent concrete building.”

Vice President, Joseph Boakai, Justice Minister, Cllr. Christiana Tarr, Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization (BIN) Commissioner, Abla Williams, and Internal Affairs Minister, Morris Dukuly, visited the fire disaster scene and expressed government’s condolence.

Investigation is ongoing to establish the cause of the fire outbreak.
