Catholic Archbishop Francis funeral held in Monrovia

(mylbsonline/Liberia)-Official ceremonies befitting the remains and funeral rites of Catholic Archbishop emeritus, Michael Kpakala Francis, have begun in Monrovia.

A grand procession of sympathizers, of government officials, clergy men and women including foreign guests and well-wishers, is taking place in Monrovia.

The removal of the remains of Archbishop Francis from the Samuel A. Stryker Funeral Parlors took place early Friday morning, May 31, 2013.

Funeral rites for the fallen Catholic Archbishop emeritus are taking place at the Sacred Heart Cathedral on Broad Street in Central Monrovia.

Meanwhile, the Liberian Government has put in place traffic regulation mechanism to ensure a successful removal and funeral for the late Archbishop.

Archbishop Michael Kpakala Francis will be buried Saturday, June 1, 2013 at his Sinkor residence in Monrovia.  
The one time famous human rights advocate died May 19, 2013, following nine years of illness.
