US based Liberian movie producer receives awards

(mylbsonline/Liberia)-A Liberian Movie Producer, based in the United States (US), Aletha Jones Campbell, has received two prestigious awards as Best Female Producer in the US.

The Liberian Movie Producer was recently awarded the “Gerald Barclay Award” for Enterprising Female Movie Producers.

Mrs. Campbell also won the Liberian Entertainment Best Movie award, with her début movie titled, “Somewhere in Baltimore.”

She is currently in Liberia for the formal launch of the movie that features some of Liberia’s best actors in the movie industry in the US. According Mrs. Campbell, the movie, “Somewhere in Baltimore” depicts human behaviors in society.

Speaking to reporters in Monrovia Wednesday, June 12, 2013, the Liberian Movie Producer said: “I choose to formally launch my movie in Liberia to prove that Liberians have the requisite talents to perform remarkably in the movie industry.”

“If Liberians support each other, the country’s entertainment industry will develop the capacity to compete with the best industries worldwide,” she added.

Mrs. Campbell is, at the same time, calling for the establishment of national theaters to give local actors more zest in doing their work.

The movie, “Somewhere in Baltimore” is expected to be launched June 22, 2013 at the Monrovia City Hall.
