US $40m school projects, others earmarked-World Bank

(mylbsonline.com/Liberia)-The World Bank has renewed its commitment to support the improvement of Liberia’s education sector.

World Bank Country Manager, Iguna Dobraja, said the bank’s vision is to provide quality education for Liberian children.

He said the World Bank is committed to working in partnership with government to implement its development programs for the common good of all.

Mr. Dobraja gave the assurance Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a school complex in Feetuah Town, Compound # 3, Grand Bassa County.

“ The World Bank will sponsor the construction of the Feetuah Public School under the Global Partnership for Education" ( GPE) Project .

He said: “The World Bank will spend US$ 40m to construct forty public schools and eight early child development centers across the country”.

Also speaking at the ceremony, Senate Pro-Tempore, Gbehzohngar Findley, described the school project as a significant boost to Liberia’s education sector. He thanked the World Bank for the project.

” I want to encourage parents to make maximum use of the facility by sending their children to school, especially girls upon the completion of the project,”  the Pro-Tempore said.
