Rep. Kollie calls for increased budgetary support for LBS

( member of the 53rd National Legislature wants better salaries and incentives for staffers of the State –Broadcaster be given a national priority.

Lofa County Representative, Moses Kollie said while the demand for highest standard for professional performance is important, there was a compelling need to set a better salary and incentive structure for journalists to motivate them.

Representative Kollie made the statement Monday, June 24, 2013 when he was awarded the Honorary Membership of the Liberia Broadcasting Workers Union (LIBSWU).

“I will lobby with my colleagues to endure that the increment in LBS affects salaries and allowances of the staff.” Rep. Kollie said.

He said: “There is a need for adequate funding to boost the capacity of the Rural Broadcasting Division of LBS.”

Rep. Kollie noted: “LBS programs and news features positively impact the lives of Liberians residing in the leeward counties. So, the Station must be given the needed support in the National Budget.”
