RIAs rehabilitation process is on course - Prez. Sirleaf

( says it is committed to the rehabilitation the Roberts International Airport (R.I.A.).

According to President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, the proposals will be carefully studied and the best firm with the best proposal will be selected for the rehabilitation of the R.I.A.

President Johnson-Sirleaf said: “Serious work needs to be done on the run-way and work is expected to commence there immediately, following the rainy season.’

“There is a need to build RIA staff’s capacity.”

The Liberian Leader spoke Monday, July 1, 2013 at her monthly ELBC program, “Conversation with the President.”

“The recent agreement signed with Equatorial Guinea for the rehabilitation of the RIA was a political commitment,” President Johnson-Sirleaf clarified.

She noted: “No financial agreement was signed between the two countries for the rebuilding of the airport.”

Meanwhile, the President maintained that the building of the ministerial complex will still go on, but not on the Peace Island, adding: “The complex will be built near the Peace Island and will be completed in three years.”
