(mylbsonline.com/Liberia)-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has immediately dismissed Liberia’s Auditor-General, Robert Kilby.

According to President Johnson-Sirleaf, Mr. Kilby was dismissed for his failure to disclose his private business activities.

She described such private business activities on the part of Mr. Kilby as a clear conflict of interest with his official duties as head of an institution with prime responsibility to investigate and to advise on non-compliance with the public financial management and procurement laws of Liberia.

The Liberian Leader said: “My decision followed the review of documentary evidence over the weekend. I requested the concurrence of the National Legislature on the dismissal of Mr. Kilby.”

For the same reason, the President has also dismissed GSA Director General, Pearine Davis-Pakinson, for approving contracts belonging to the Auditor-General.

“The GSA Director-General’s action is in violation of the procurement laws and procedures of the country,” the Liberian said.

President Johnson-Sirleaf has also dismissed Deputy Justice Minister for Administration and Public Safety, Freddie Taylor, Deputy Immigration Commissioner for Operations, Robert Budy and the Director of Border Management, Wilson Garpeh.

Justifying her action against the public officials, she said: “They were dismissed based on investigation by the Justice Ministry on human trafficking.”

“A team, headed by the Labor Ministry, is instructed to conduct further investigation on additional measures that maybe taken and on the role and action to be taken against former Solicitor General, Cllr. Micah Wright, the Immigration Commissioner and Honorary Consul, Upjit Sachdeva,” the President noted.

The Liberian Leader has suspended Deputy Public Works Minister for Operations, Victor Smith, for failure to adhere to the Public Procurement and Financial Rules of government.

Deputy Minister Smith remains suspended, pending investigation surrounding his official duties at the Works Ministry.

The Public Procurement and Financial Rules of government relate to construction contract rewarding.
