US Govt gives AFL US$4M equipment

(mylbsonline.com/Liberia)-US$4m worth of equipment is expected shortly in the country for the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) Engineering Battalion.

According to Defense Minister, Brownie Samukai, the United States Government will shortly assist the AFL with a range of engineering equipment under a US43.5m project.

Minister Samukai disclosed that the consignment is expected in the country in three month time.

He said: “The equipment will empower the AFL in collaboration with the Public Works Ministry to expand roads across Liberia.

He spoke Monday, July 8, 2013 when he appeared on ELBC’S Supper Morning Show.

Meanwhile, the Defense Minister has disclosed that Major Geraldine George has graduated from the US Commanding Gender Staff of College.

Major George is the first female officer of the AFL to graduate from the US Commanding Gender Staff of College.

Minister Samukai said: “Major Geraldine George has also completed her master’s program from Webster University in the United States, and has returned to the country.

At the same time, the Defense Minister has described his recent trips to Brazil and Washington DC as fruitful.
