Gregory University College named in VP Boakais honor

(mylbsonline.com/Liberia)-The Gregory University in Abia State, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has renamed one of its colleges in honor of Liberian statesman, Joseph Boakai.

The Gregory University College of Social and Management Sciences is now called, the “Joseph N. Boakai College of Social and Management Sciences.”

According to a release, ceremony marking the renaming of the college in honor of the Liberian Vice President took place Friday, July 5, 2013 in Nigeria.

Authorities of the Gregory College said: “It is in recognition of your commitment towards good governance and development in Liberia and also in fulfillment of the Founder brother’s wish that the great honor be conferred on Vice President Joseph N. Boakai.”

In his acceptance address, Vice President Boakai said: “I consider this as a great and historic honor for me to humbly accept the responsibilities, expectations and honor the naming of the college places on my shoulders.”

“Liberians can never forget the immense sacrifices that Nigeria has made for the survival and forward march for Liberia,” he noted.

The ceremony was graced by Government officials of Nigeria, including Vice President, Mohammed Namadi Sambo, former Vice President, and Dr.  Alex Ekwueme, Abia State Governor, Liberia’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. Al Hassan Conteh, among others.
