(mylbsonline.com/Liberia)-Two of Liberia’s leading road construction companies have reaffirmed their commitment to quality road building throughout the country.

China Henan International Corporation Group (CHICO) and Chongqing International Construction Company (CICO) made their reaffirmation Saturday, July 13, 2013 at a news conference in Monrovia.

Addressing the news conference, CHICO Manager, Ma Peng, and CICO President, Fu Liang Quan, said: “Liberia’s fast recovery from civil conflict to infrastructure development requires citizens having access to good roads and bridges to enable them move freely in all parts of the country.”

“Our operations in the country are also creating job opportunities for over one thousand Liberians, ranging from skilled to unskilled workers, the two company officials also said.

At the same time, CHICO’s Chief Administrator, Joseph Swen, noted: “Two of the company’s administrative staff are currently pursuing Master Degrees in China, while additional two are undergoing post under-graduate certificate training at the University of Liberia to occupy key positions at the company upon graduation.

“The company has also purchased over ten acres of land in the King Gray Community for the construction of its Africa Regional Office, the first of its kind in West Africa.

The CHICO Management named the completion of the Buchanan High-Way and the SKD Boulevard, among others, as two of its major achievements over the years in Liberia.

The newly constructed Buchanan High-Way links the Firestone-Liberia Rubber Plantation Company in Margibi County and the provincial Capital of Grand Bassa County.

“The Caldwell Bridge and the Gbarnga/Ganta High-Way is our next projects expected to commence soon,” CHICO also said.
