(mylbsonline.com/Liberia)-Senate Protempore, Gbehzohngar Findley, has emphasized the need for citizens of Gbarpolu County to unite for the transformation of Bopolu into a modern city.

Senator Findley said: “Bopolu, being one of the newest cities in Liberia, can only be developed through the collective effort of the county.”

According to a release, the Senate Protempore spoke Monday, July 22, 2013 in Bopolu City when he dedicated the first street in the city.

The street is named after King Sao Bosso, a former powerful King who ruled Western Liberia.

King Bosso was one of Liberia’s first kings who welcomed the first group of settlers (Free Slaves from America) to the country.

The dedicatory ceremony was part of activities marking Liberia’s 166th Independence Day celebration currently taking place in three western counties of Liberia, namely- Gbarpolu, Grand Cape Mount and Bomi.

Also speaking, Gbarpolu County Steering Committee Chairperson, Bartu Dorley, noted: “Series of programs that will characterized the Independence Day, have been earmarked.”

“The programs include a parade in the principal streets of Bopolu City and Monrovia, a soccer tournament, among others,” Madam Bartu added.
