Government is committed to TRC Report implementation-Prez.Sirleaf

( Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf  says Government it is committed to the implementing  the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) report.

President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf said: “The Peace Building Office at the Internal Affairs Ministry has completed a detailed study that shows clearly the action already taken on the recommendations of the TRC report.”

“Though the work is still in progress, the results will be made public upon its completion,” President Johnson-Sirleaf noted.

She placed special emphasis on cases in compliance with the country’s constitution.

The Liberian Leader added: “The Independent National Commission on Human Rights, responsible to ensuring the implementation of the TRC report, submitted a work plan to the Executive and Legislative Branches of government over a year ago.”

According to her, the reconstitution of the Independent National Commission on Human Rights will help the government accelerate the implementation of the TRC recommendations.

She spoke Friday, July 26, 2013 in Tubmanburg, Bomi County at programs marking the 166th independence anniversary of Liberia.

President Johnson-Sirleaf then urged Liberians to be responsible and patriotic citizens as a way of moving the country forward.

Meanwhile, the Liberian Leader has named Sinoe and Grand Kru Counties as the venue of 2014 Independence Day celebration, with the official program to take place in Greenville.
