(mylbsonline.com/Liberia)-The ruling Unity Party (UP) has been urged to be more proactive and consistent in its fight against corruption in Liberia.

Speaking at programs marking the official celebration of Liberia’s 166th Independence Day observed July 26, 2013, the Orator, Cllr. Varney Sherman, reminded President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf that she cannot leave a good legacy, unless corruption is totally disposed of.

Cllr. Sherman said: “It was now time for government to take decisive policies and actions before it is too late.”

“The loud public outcry against corruption, despite tremendous efforts to fight the menace suggests that more needs to be done to correct the ill.”  He noted.

Meanwhile, the July 26, 2013 Orator recommended that the Anti-Corruption Commission be given a prosecution power to enhance the fight against corruption in Liberia.

Cllr. Sherman is currently serving as Founder and Managing Director of the Sherman and Sherman Law Firm in the country.
