Disunity hampers progress in Liberias culture sector

(mylbsonline.com/Liberia)-Liberian Information Minister, Lewis Browne, is calling for unity among culture artists in the country.

Minister Browne said: “Government will fully support the National Culture Union of Liberia once there is unity among Liberian culture artists.”

“The National Culture Union’s biggest challenge is the issue of disunity among them,” he noted.

Minister Browne Spoke over the weekend at the Peace and Reconciliation Jamboree held on Providence Island in Monrovia.

”Government is ready to work along with the culture sector of Liberia once it operates as a group,” the Information Minister added.

“The National Culture Union is under obligation to ensure that members of the Liberian culture artists co-exist in peace and harmony,” Minister Brown further noted.

For his part, the President of the National Culture Union of Liberia, Kerkula Kamara, said: “The Peace and Reconciliation Jamboree was organized by his union to buttress government’s effort in fulfillment of its peace and reconciliation initiative.”

Mr. Kamara noted: “I am calling on government to include the culture sector of Liberia in all government activities, particularly in peace-building and development areas.”
