Govt launches immunization platform

(mylbsonline.com/Liberia)-The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and partners have launched the Liberia Immunization Platform (LIP) in Monrovia.

Speaking at the launch, Gender Minister, Julius Duncan-Cassell, said: “Government is committed to ensuring quality healthcare delivery for all children in Liberia.”

Minister Duncan-Cassell made the statement at the launch Friday, August 2, 2013 at Monrovia City Hall.

“Government does not want to see any child dying from childhood preventable diseases anymore and will ensure that all children are vaccinated,” she also said.

The Gender Ministry Boss added: “Liberia has made remarkable progress in improving the rates in immunization and child survival in the last decade of peace with the decline of more than 68% in infant and under five mortality rates.”

Meanwhile, several persons were honored at the program as champions for vaccination in the country.

Those honored include Gender Minister, Julius Duncan-Cassel, Health Minister, Dr. Walter Gwenigale, Chief Medical Officer of Liberia, Dr. Bernice Dahn, Assistant Health Minister, Tolbert Nyenswah, among others.
