(mylbsonline.com/Liberia)-The Chair of the Senate Committee on Internal Affairs says more needs to be done to improve the living standards of rural dwellers.

Gbarpolu County Senator, Armah Jallah, decried access to roads and lack of basic social services for the people in rural areas.

He commended the National Government for the ongoing road construction throughout Liberia, but said: “There is still major challenge to ensuring road connectivity in the country.”

Senator Jallah was speaking at separate programs in Foyah District, Lofa County.

While in Foyah, he interacted with the disabled, Youth and Elderly groups on the workings of the Senate, especially his position as chair of the Senate Committee on Internal Affairs.

At the same time, the Gbarpolu County lawmaker served as guest speaker at the graduation ceremony of the   Foyah Public High School.

“See high school education as the beginning of a long journey. Do not be complacent with high school diploma, rather muster courage in your learning sojourn,” he urged the graduates.

Out of one hundred and sixty graduates, only thirty were females.

As part of his oversight responsibilities as Senate Committee Chair on Internal Affairs, Senator Jallah said: “I will shortly begin a nationwide tour to acquaint myself with issues confronting rural Liberia.”
