( County Senator, Jewel Howard Taylor, has described her suspension from the county Caucus by her colleagues as ‘error of judgment.’

Recently, the Bong County Legislative Caucus suspended Senator Taylor’s membership on the county caucus for her alleged statements of support to China Union’s operations in Liberia.

Clarifying the allegation against her, Senator Taylor said: “My statements at the company’s second-phase operations, launched in Fuamah District, Bong County, is part of advocacy for the  benefits that  Bong County citizens stand to get from China Union’s operations in the community.”

The Bong County Lawmaker has, however, out rightly refused to honor the suspension on ground that her membership on the Caucus is not subject to decisions of the County law makers.

She argued: “It is my right, guaranteed under Article 42 of the Liberian Constitution, to express my opinion and exercise my functions without being arrested, detained, prosecuted, or tried.”

It can be recalled that the Caucus has, of recent, been opposed to the China Union’s investment in Bong County.

The Caucus said: “Our opposition to China Union’s investment in Bong County stemmed from the company’s posture of reneging on its social responsibility to the citizens of the County, especially residents of Fuamah District.

China Union is operating from the previous site of the former German iron ore company, commonly called, “Bong Mines,” in Fuamah District, Lower Bong County.
