Renowned Liberian broadcaster, Othello Yarsiah, is dead

 ( well-known Liberian broadcast journalist, Othello Yarsiah, is dead.

He died Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the Jackson F. Doe Memorial Referral Hospital in Tappita, Nimba County.
Prior to his demise, local doctors diagnosed Mr. Yarsiah of suffering from liver complications.

He worked with several media institutions in and out of Liberia, beginning his professional career at the state-run broadcaster, the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) as a Local Language (Belle) Announcer.

While at LBS, Mr. Yarsiah later transitioned to the position of ‘Simple’ English Broadcaster, giving him the opportunity to simply communicate with ordinary Liberians, including non-literate individuals.

Following the Liberian civil crisis, Mr. Yarsiah joined the UNMIL Radio, serving in the same position. He also worked with the United Nations Radio in Darfur, Sudan.

Prior to his death, the LBS Management visited veteran broadcaster and presented him a cash of twenty five thousand Liberian Dollars (L$25,000.00), a gesture he highly appreciated.
