U.S promises working along with Liberia Amb. Malac

( United States has expressed its commitment to working along with Liberia to further consolidate 10 years of peace and tranquility in the country.

The U.S. Government said: “We will continue working along with the Liberian Government to promote greater economic opportunities and to build transparent and accountable institutions that will serve the Liberian people.”

According to an Information Ministry release, the U.S. Government’s assurances were contained in a congratulatory and goodwill message sent to President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf on the 10th anniversary of the establishment of peace in Liberia.

The message was also intended for the government and people of Liberia on the same occasion.

It was delivered in Monrovia by U.S. Ambassador to Liberia, Deborah Malac, Monday, August 19, 2013, during the official celebration of 10 years of peace in Liberia.

The U.S. Government added: “The past 10 years of peace in Liberia was not only because of the involvement of the International Community, but also because of the Liberian people’s hard work and commitment to denounce and reject war.”

“The United States acknowledges the progress Liberia has made in the past 10 years, and looks forward to continue working together with the Liberian Government in a strong partnership,” Ambassador Malac further noted.”

“The move will improve the future of all Liberians and generations to come.”

The release also quotes the U.S. Envoy as having said: “Achieving 10 years of uninterrupted peace is, indeed, a momentous accomplishment.”

“The Liberian people can be justifiably proud of the strides that the country has taken at this time,” she also said.
