Prez. Sirleaf praises Catholic Church for quality education

( Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has praised the Catholic Church in Liberia for its continuous commitment to providing quality education and health services to the Liberian people.

President Johnson-Sirleaf, however, said: “While it is good to establish more schools in the country, they must be of quality at all times.”

The Liberian Leader made the commendation Friday, August 30, 2013 in Monrovia at program marking the graduation of over 500 students of the university.

The students were graduated from various disciplines by the Stella Maris Polytechnic University.

“The recent mass failure of students in the University of Liberia (UL) entrance exams should be seen as a wake-up call for all learning institutions and stakeholders in the country to double their efforts in providing quality education to the youth,” the President also said.

Also speaking at the graduation program, Stella Maris Polytechnic University President, Sister Mary Laurine, promised the university’s commitment to providing quality education to all youth in the country.

She then recounted Stella Maris Polytechnic University’s achievements in Liberia’s rebuilding process.

More than 130 students were graduated with degrees in Nursing and 16 others earned Master’s degree in other areas of concentration.
