Amid bad labor practice claim, Arcelor Mittal cooperates

( Mittal has presented an 18-count document to the Nimba County Legislative Caucus over claims of bad labor practices involving the company.

The Caucus Chairman, Thomas Grupee, told mylbsonline that the citizens have complained of being denied jobs meant for Liberians, the company’s alleged refusal to renovate the Yekepa Hospital,  staff homes, among others.

Senator Grupee said: “The document indicates that Arcelor Mittal has now agreed to carry out its corporate social responsibility by addressing the citizens’ concerns.”

“They are so far impressed with the renovation being carried out on the hospital and staff homes in Yekepa by the company,” the Nimba County lawmaker noted.

Meanwhile, the Caucus Chairman has promised to submit findings of the meeting with Arcelor Mittal to the Plenary.

“The latest development will pave the way for the rectification of the amended version of the Arcelor Mittal’s agreement with the citizens.
