(mylbsonline.com/Liberia)-Government lawyers has presented oral and documentary evidences rebutting defense prime witness’s testimonies that they did not take part in the Ivorian civil conflict in 2011.

The oral and documentary evidences were presented Monday, September 16, 2013 at Criminal Court ‘D’ at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia.

One of the State rebuttal witnesses told the court: “Records at the Robert International Airport (RIA) reveal that one of the prime suspects in the mercenary case, Ophorie Dia, did travel out of the country.

RIA’s Resources Manager, Regina Benson, said: “Defendant, Ophorie Dia, travelled twice on Nigerian Airlines between October and November, 2011.”

State rebuttal witnesses Benson rejected defendant Dia’s previous testimony that he did not travel to Dubai and Singapore in 2011 to buy arms and ammunition to fight in Cote d’Ivoire.

Also testifying for the State, National Port Authority’s lawyer, Cllr. Dexter Tyler, identified defendant Dia’s signature, thereby contradicting his previous testimony.

Defendant Dia had testified that he did not sign any statement at the police headquarters while being investigated in connection with the mercenary allegation.

The trial continues Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Criminal Court ‘D’ at the Temple of Justice.
