Prez. Sirleaf Visits Canada, US and Costa Rica

(mylbsonline.com/Liberia/Sept.21/2013)-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf is on an official visit to Canada, the United States and Costa Rica.

President Johnson-Sirleaf and delegation, expected back home Wednesday, October, 2013, will be out of the country for about 19 days.

According to an Executive Mansion release, the Liberian Leader begins her visit to Toronto, Canada, where she has been invited by an international organization, “Free the Children.”

The invitation extended the President is intended to opportune her to participate in a program co-named, “We Day Toronto Event.”

“We Day Toronto Event,” the largest event of its kind, commemorates the young people’s power to change the world.

The release further said the event brings together over 70,000 youth and educators, celebrities, musicians and heroes from across Canada sharing their inspirational stories.

President’s activities at the event will include on-stage and media interviews, VIP launch along with honored guests.

She will serve as Keynote Speaker at an exclusive dinner to celebrate the work of the individuals and organizations that brought We Day to fruition.

She, along with delegation, arrives in New York Saturday, September 21, 2013.

While in New York, the President will participate in the general debate of the 68th Regular Session of the United Nations General Assembly, the release also added.
The United Nations General Assembly is expected to commence Wednesday, September 24, 2013.

At the same time, President Johnson-Sirleaf will participate in a series of meetings focused on the Post-2015 Development Agenda, implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs, and the African Union High-Level Committee on the Post-2015 Agenda.

The meetings are intended to arrive at Africa’s Common Position, among others, the release noted.

The Liberian President is also expected to address the UN General Assembly on the afternoon of September 24th.
The 2013 world gathering will be graced by 13 Liberian youths as part of the President’s delegation.

The President served as one of three Co-Chairs of the UN High-Level Panel, constituted by the UN Secretary General, Ban Kimoon.

It was set up in 2012 to develop a Post-2015 Global Development Agenda.
