(mylbsonline.com/Liberia/Sept.24/2013)-President Johnson-Sirleaf is expected to address the UN General Assembly in New York later this afternoon.

President Johnson-Sirleaf’s address at the UN General Assembly will be graced by other world leaders, influential individuals and various youth groups from around the world, including a Liberian youth delegation.

The Occasion follows the first meeting of the African Union’s High Level Committee on the Post-2015 Agenda chaired by the Liberian Leader.

She termed her participation in the African Union’s High Level Committee meeting as a unique opportunity.

The President believes her participation would impact on the decision-making process in formulating Africa’s Common Position on the next Global Development Agenda.

According to a dispatch from New York, the United States of America, she began her week-long activities in the American city with series of high-level meetings.

The meetings, focused on the Post-2015 Development Agenda and the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), were held on the eve of the 68th Regular Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

At the AU Permanent Mission in New York, the Liberian Leader suggested to her colleagues that the forum gives a unique opportunity to make their voices heard and participate in setting the New Development Agenda.

The President said: “The MDGs represent a framework that has made a huge impact on recent development processes around the world.”

Such development processes include influencing policy makers, orienting people’s thinking about the essentials of human development, and what the world has in common as one humanity.

She acknowledged that the MDGs helped world leaders prioritize policy actions and allocate resources.

President Johnson-Sirleaf reminded her African colleagues that the continent has a chance to make an impact on the decision-making process and that they must seize such opportunity and make the most out of it.
