PUL, Civil Society want Jailed Journalist released

(mylbsonline.com/Liberia/Sept. 25, 2013)-The Press Union of Liberia (PUL) has launched a campaign in solidarity with jailed Front Page Africa Newspaper publisher, Rodney Sieh.

Journalists and Civil Society Organizations who assembled at the PUL head office Monday, September 23, 2013 in Monrovia during the campaign, called for the immediate release of Journalist Sieh.

According to mylbsonline.com reporter, the “Free Rodney Sieh” campaign was marked by slogans, the launch of a nation-wide poster and signatures and a parade calling for the detained Journalist’s release.

PUL President, Peter Quaqua, speaking to our reporter also said: “A team of volunteer lawyers have filed a petition before the Supreme Court challenging the constitutionality of the law used to send the journalist to jail.”

Mr. Sieh is currently serving jail sentence at the Monrovia Central Prison, south of the Liberian Capital, Monrovia, following guilty verdict against him for libel.
