(mylbsonline.com/Liberia/ Oct. 4/2013)-House Committee on Contract and Monopoly has defended the Legislature for not passing the Petroleum Law.

Representative Clarence Massaquoi also defended the lawmakers for not passing the Act to restructure the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL).

He said: “The decision was in the best interest of the Liberian people.” Representative Massaquoi made the statement Monday, September 30, 2013 in Monrovia.

He pledged the committee’s commitment to upholding transparency and accountability in the discharge of its duties.

The lawmaker, however, challenged the National Oil Company authorities to create more awareness on the oil and gas sectors, and on its activities.

According to Representative Massaquoi, the move is intended to ensuring transparency and accountability at the company.
