(mylbsonline.com/Liberia/Oct.4/ 2013)-The Technical Committee of the Liberia Athletics Federation (LAF) has selected ten top performers for further training in anticipation of qualifying for the 2014 Youth Olympics in China.

The athletes, from local clubs and school teams, were selected for the final training phase during the weekend, when the LAF Technical Committee organized a one-day time-trial.

The one-day time-trial was held Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the National Stadium, the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex (SKD), in Paynesville City.

Athletes who formed part of the final training include, Morris Massaquoi, Christine Julu, Sylvester Massaquoi, William Sawboe and Faraj Anis.

The rest are Lucy Massaquoi, Edwin Massaquoi, Patience Koenig, Richard Massaquoi and Cynthia Jonathan.

The work-outs are being conducted at the SKD Sports Complex by the Head Coach of Liberian Athletics, Frederick Massaquoi, and his assistant, Bill Sheriff, with LAF Technical Director, Kesselee Kanneh, playing the coordination role.

“The Liberia National Olympic Committee (LNOC) is providing funding for the weekly training sessions,” Director Kanneh said.

The Track and Field athletes’ ability to grab a qualification slot for Liberia at the Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China, largely depends on the level of performance they would put up at All Junior Championships early 2014.
