(mylbsonline.com/Liberia/Oct.6/2013)-Representatives of various opposition political parties in Liberia have re-echoed their disagreement for President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf to resign.

The political parties said: “The wide-range of calls and counter calls for President Johnson-Sirleaf to step down will only jeopardize the peace Liberians are enjoying.

“Anyone offended by the actions of the UP-Led Government should wait for the democratic process to change the government,” Alternative National Congress Chairman, Orishall Gould, said.

At the same time, Liberty Party Secretary General, Jacob Smith, noted: “There is no shortcut to strengthening democracy.” Mr. Smith denounced calls for President Johnson-Sirleaf to step down.

“A Lot has been done to consolidate peace”, the Secretary General of the National Union for Democratic Progress (NUDP), Sam Brown, also noted.

The NUDP official then cautioned his fellow citizens not to indulge in activities that have the propensity of reversing Liberia’s post-war gains.

In a related development, the Secretary General of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), Nathaniel McGill, added: “CDC is not a party to calls for the Liberian Leader to step down.”
