(mylbsonline.com/Liberia/ Oct. 15/2013) A joint meeting to discuss border security and economic cooperation between Liberia and La Cote D’Ivoire is expected to take place this week in Grand Gedeh County.

The meeting, to be held from October 16 to 19, 2013, will bring together over 100 chiefs, elders, and senior government officials from the two countries.

Representatives of the Mano River Union and ECOWAS will also be present at the Grand Gedeh County meeting.

Internal Affairs Minister, Morris Dukuly, said: “The meeting is important for promoting peace-building and ensuring that neither of the countries is used for destabilizing the other.”

Minister Dukuly told a news conference at the week-end: “The discussion seeks to establish a platform for continued dialogue and information-sharing between civilian and security authorities of the two post-war nations (Liberia and La Cote D’Ivoire).”

“At the end of the forum, a general communiqué will be adopted and presented to the Mano River Union and ECOWAS for endorsement,” the Internal Affairs Minister further noted.

La Cote D’Ivoire Ambassador to Liberia, Kapieletie Soro, and the Independent National Human Rights Commission’s Acting Chairman, Boakai Dukuly, were among other dignitaries at the news conference.
