Liberia welcomes African Governance index rating

 (mylbsonline.com/Liberia/Oct.16/2013) The Liberian Government has welcomed the latest index of African Governance which recognizes Liberia’s significant moves in the governance arena since 2006.

The African Governance Index was released by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation which recently ranked Liberia the 29th position, with a final point of 50.

Acting Information Minister, Robert Kpadeh, said: “Liberia topped ten other countries, because of its effective service delivery to its citizens, in line with international best practices.”

The index focuses on four major categories, including safety and Rule of Law, participation and Human Rights, Sustainable Economic Opportunity, and Human Development.

Meanwhile, Governance Commission’s Chairman, Dr. Amos Sawyer, Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission, Cllr.

Augustine Toe, CENTAL Executive Director, Thomas Doe-Nah, and an Economist, Samuel Tweh, are expected to address the ministry’s weekly press briefing Thursday, October 17, 2013.
