Liberia, La Cote d Ivoire begin security, trade, Peace meeting

(mylbsonline.com/Liberia/Oct.18/2013) A peace conference bringing together chiefs and elders of both Liberia and La Cote D’Ivoire has commenced in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County.

The meeting which is being held in South Eastern Liberia, is aimed at discussing peace, security and cross border trade and movements in the two countries.

Presidents Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and Alassan Quattara are expected to join the conference later this week.

The two Presidents will join the chiefs and elders of Liberia and those of La Cote D’Ivoire, who have since arrived in Zwedru.

Speaking at the conference’s opening Thursday, October 17, 2013, Internal Affairs Minister, Morris Dukuly, praised the peace-loving people of Grand Gedeh County for warmly receiving participants of the conference in their county.

Minister Dukuly recounted the long standing relations between the two countries over the years.
