(mylbsonline.com/Liberia/Oct. 18/ 2013) The Executive Protection Service (EPS) has dismissed as false and misleading claims that President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf was involved in a presidential convoy accident.

The EPS is an elite security unit in Liberia solely responsible to provide maximum security protection for the country’s Presidency.

According to the EPS, the Presidential convoy was enroute to Grand Gedeh County in South Eastern Liberia.

The clarification comes amid wide-spread reports circulating in the local media and other social networks that the President was involved in an accident.

The EPS, however, confirmed that the accident actually occurred in Gbatala, Bong County with no fatality or major human casualty.

“The convey has now successfully reached its destination in Grand Gedeh County awaiting President Johnson-Sirleaf later this week,” the EPS also said.

Presidents Johnson-Sirleaf and Alassan Quattara of La Cote D’Ivoire are expected to shortly hold a bilateral meeting in Grand Gedeh County.

The meeting is intended to discuss peace, security and cross border trade between the two neighboring West African nations.

The meeting commenced Thursday, October 17, 2013 in Zwedru City with other government officials, local chiefs and elders of the two countries participating in the deliberations.
