Minnesota donates US$2m firefighting equipment to Liberia

(mylbsonline.com/Liberia/ Nov. 5/2013) The Minnesota Fire Rescue Alliance in the United States has denoted a consignment of firefighting equipment to Liberia.

The Minnesota Fire Rescue Alliance made the donation, in collaboration with the Liberian Government.

The consignment, valued at US$2m, will be used by the Liberia National Fire Service Bureau to fight fire outbreaks in the country.

Presenting the equipment to the Bureau, the Commander of the Fire Rescue Alliance, Ken Prillaman, said: “The consignment of equipment is intended to effectively fight fire incidents in Liberia.”

“The Fire Rescue Alliance is committed to assisting the Liberia National Fire Service Bureau with training and equipment in the next five years,” Col. Prillaman also said.

He further noted that the Liberian Government contributed over one hundred thousand United States Dollars toward the purchase of the firefighting equipment.

Commander Prillaman disclosed that the consignment contains a firefighting truck, ambulance, generators and firefighting jackets, among others.

In response, the Director of the National Fire Service Bureau, Warsuwah Barvoul, said: “The donation will improve the Bureau’s work.”
