(mylbsonline.com/Liberia/Nov. 6/ 2013) The Head of the Executive Branch of the Liberian government has praised the ongoing nationwide Public Consultations on the Draft Oil Law of Liberia.

President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf says the exercise is in continuation of her government’s effort to enhance transparency and integrity in the country’s governance process.
She also believes that the exercise is another milestone to ensuring public participation and improvement in the Oil Sector.

She praised the Legislative and Executive Branches of Government, and other stakeholders for allowing public participation in the ongoing effort to reform the Oil Sector.

The President recalled that in some rich countries, debate on such draft legislation is often preserved for the governing elites and not the public.

The Nationwide Public gathering on the Draft Oil Law is being spearheaded by House Speaker, Alex Tyler, and backed by President Johnson-Sirleaf, through the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL).

The Liberian Leader made the statement Monday, November 4, 2013 through her proxy, Internal Affairs Minister, Morris Dukuly.

Minister Dukuly spoke in Gbarnga City, Bong County at the official launch of the nationwide dialogue on the Draft Oil Law of the country.
