(mylbsonline.com/Liberia/Nov.7/2013) President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf says the restoration of diplomatic mission with countries in the Arab World is a priority of the Liberian Government.

President Johnson-Sirleaf said: “My government has already begun the process of restoring such ties to continue with development aid to Liberia.”
“Ties with the Arab World have been of great help to Liberia’s development,” she said.

The Liberian Leader noted that negotiations are ongoing for the settlement of debt that the country owes Saudi Arabia and other countries to pave the way for diplomatic relations.

The President, however, named some of the Arab countries that Liberia has completed negotiations with as Kuwait, Qatar, among others.

“Negotiations for the establishment of diplomatic ties cannot be completed with other Arab countries until outstanding debts are settled,” President Johnson-Sirleaf also added.

The Liberian Leader spoke recently when she addressed members of the Muslim Community.
