( Vice President, Joseph Boakai, wants Liberians take ownership of the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) by supporting the entity.

According to Vice President Boakai, despite government’s support to the State Broadcaster, the need for every Liberian to support the institution cannot be overemphasized.

He said: “Private run radio stations will come and go, but the State Broadcaster will always be around to serve the Liberian populace.”
“People can only be encouraged to support LBS, if the Management continues to exert efforts, aimed at transforming the entity,” the Liberian Vice President also noted.

Vice President Boakai spoke Friday, November 15, 2013 at the System’s Head Office in Paynesville when he dedicated the newly installed LBS 10-kilowatt digital television transmitter.

Vice President Boakai described the dedication of the digital television transmitter as another possible move in the life of LBS.

He then lauded the government and people of the People’s Republic of China for providing the State Broadcaster the modern television transmitting installation.

The dedicatory ceremony of the pilot project coincided with the official launch of the “LBS Dollar Campaign.”

The 10-kilowatt digital television transmitter’s installation was implemented by China Central Television (CCTV).
