RefereeYekeh off to Accra for WAFU showdown

(mylbsonline.com/Liberia/Nov.18/2018) Liberia’s young FIFA-badge referee, Jerry Yekeh, is in the Ghanaian Capital, Accra to officiate another big international competition.

Referee Yekeh left Liberia Monday, November 18, 2013 Ghana to take up the assignment in the WAFU Zone ‘B’ tournament to be held in Kumasi from Thursday, November 21 to Thursday, November 28.

Mylbsonline understands that 8 Nations in the Western ‘B’ zone of the West African Football Union have confirmed participation in the event.

The only newest participant at this year’s WAFU games in Zone ‘A’, including Liberia, is Senegal. The country was given an honorary invitation by host Nation – Ghana.

Jerry Yekeh will participate in the WAFU event as Central Referee. Other participating Countries include Sierra Leone, Benin, Niger, Burkina Faso, Mali and Gabon.

Yekeh, now a professional Liberian referee ascended as a top referee in the local football arena over the last three years.

The youthful referee has maintained his high performance since rising up to stardom.

He has won the LFA Best Referee Award on a number of occasions, until recently, when the top referee prize in the National Football League was won by his colleague, Isaac Montgomery.

Montgomery, meanwhile, dedicated the award to Yekeh, whom he considers his ‘mentor.’
