Prof. Alhaji G.V. Kromah has assured that the government of Liberia’s cooperate with the international Red Cross for setting up an International Humanitarian Law Committee in the country.

Ambassador-At-Large  Kromah is Professor at the state-run University of Liberia in Monrovia.

Prof. Kromah said: “When the society is peaceful, it is the best time to educate the people about their rights and responsibilities during conflict periods”.

He made the statement  on Satursday 3 November 2012  in Monrovia at a strategic planning meeting for the setting up of a National Humanitarian Law Committee in Liberia.

The two-day meeting was sponsored by the International Red Cross. Ambassador Kromah spoke on behalf of Liberia’s Foreign Minister Agusine  Ngafuan.

The Ministry headed the government’s participation in the gathering, which included the Ministries of Justice and Defense, and the National Law Reform Commission, the Commission on Human Rights, Civil Society Organizations, among others.

Ambassador Kromah said: “Liberia’s recent experience in armed conflict has made the country an informal custodian of records and lesions in disputes and peace-keeping”.

“The Liberian Government will support efforts to enable the public be aware of the value of international humanitarian law and its efforts on national stability”, Ambassador Kromah said.
