Commerce Ministry warns against artificial petrol shortage

MONROVIA, LIBERIA (Release)-The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is warning petrol dealers who are creating artificial shortage of gasoline in the Country to desist with immediate effect.

The further noted that it is taking aback by the long queues at filling stations, suggesting shortage of gasoline in Liberia.

A Commerce Ministry release issued over the weekend says inventory data produced by importers of petroleum products in the Country suggest that there is sufficient quantity to coop with the current market demand.

According to the release, petrol dealers who are in the habit of hoarding the product should to stop at once.

Meanwhile, as a means of finding a lasting solution to the glaring artificial shortage of gasoline in the Country, the Commerce Ministry will today Monday, January 27,2020 hold an emergency meeting with importers,LPRC and the National Port Authority.

The Ministry is also calling on the public to maintain calm as a permanent solution to the matter is being sought.
