Monrovia Liberia – About thirty-five percent of the rural parts of Liberia will have access to sustainable and available energy products or electricity by 2030.

That percentage will amount to about 1.3 Million household connections, an effort that is also being aided by the Liberia Electricity Corporation, LEC.

Addressing the Information Ministry Press Conference Thursday, Deputy Rural and Renewable Energy Agency Executive Director, Stephen Potter said currently only four percent of Rural Liberia has access to electricity.

Mr. Porter said a number of projects are currently ongoing including the installations of transmission lines running from Ganta to Gbarnga, PHEBE and Suakoko all aimed at providing electricity to the locals in those areas.

According to Mr. Potter, those projects are being funded by two development partners including USAID in the tone of 4M USD.
