Monrovia Liberia – ECOWAS Special Representative to Liberia, Ambassador Babatunde Ajisomo, says Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) and Disaster Recovery Framework (DRF) are critical to any nation.
Ambassador Ajisomo said despite the numerous interventions ECOWAS has instituted, disasters continue to occur in Liberia hence the need for better coordination is very important.
Making remarks at the start of the Post Disaster Needs Assessment and Disaster Recovery Framework Workshop Tuesday in Monrovia, the ECOWAS Ambassador said the training is intended to equip representatives from relevant ministries and agencies with knowledge to address challenges of disaster.
Earlier, the Executive Director of the National Disaster Management Agency of Liberia, Henry Williams urged participants to take the training seriously.
Meanwhile United Nations Resident Coordinator Kingsley Opuku Amaning, says preparatory and constant training is necessary to the attainment of Post Disaster Needs Assessment.
Mr. Opuku Amaning indicated that the United Nations in collaboration with the World Bank, and ECOWAS, remain supportive in building the capacity of relevant agencies of government on disaster management and preparedness.
