by Varflay Kamara

Monrovia Liberia – An investigative Committee is being setup by the Government of Liberia to investigate complaints of alleged brutality against some Journalists and members of the Press Union of Liberia.

It followed a petition presented to the Government by PUL President, Charles Coffey at the Foreign Ministry on Thursday March 12, 2020.

Upon receipt of the petition, Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Nathaniel McGill, said President George Weah will review the document and take appropriate actions.

Minister McGill assured that the current administration under President Weah will do nothing to undermine the safety and progress of Journalists in the Country.

At the same time, Information Minister Eugene Nagbe has welcomed the decision by the Press Union to petition the Executive to investigate alleged Security brutality against Journalists.

Minister Nagbe, however,  said action will be taken based on facts from the findings of the Investigate Committee.
